A 24V LiFePO4 battery is an 8S configuration: eight 3.2V cells in series give a 25.6V nominal voltage, and the industry uses “24V” as shorthand for that same pack because it is the drop-in voltage for a 24V lead-acid bank. 24V or 48V — Choosing the System Voltage
24V is the practical choice where DC cable runs are short and the inverter input stays below roughly 3kW. Above that, the same power draw needs more current at 24V, which means heavier cable and higher resistive loss — and that is where a 48V pack becomes the better engineering decision. The two are not interchangeable inside an existing installation: BMS, charger and inverter settings must match the pack voltage.
Can 24V LiFePO4 Batteries Be Connected in Series or Parallel?
Paralleling identical 24V packs increases capacity and is normal practice for house banks. Series connection to reach 48V is only valid on packs whose BMS is rated for series operation — the BMS must handle the combined string voltage, and doing this on a non-series-rated unit will damage the BMS.
