Super Solar Energy Storage System

With lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology

There is no question lithium iron phosphate is the most advanced battery technology for any ESS(home energy storage system). They are lighter, take less space and last longer. While the up-front cost is higher than Gel, AGM or Lead Acid the overall cost of ownership is lower over time because you will never have to replace your lithium battery, and will not require maintenance.

That’s why it is Widely used in microgrid energy storage, photovoltaic energy storage, computer data ROM stand-by power, UPS and etc.

What is Battery energy storage systems (BESS)

Bess for short of Battery Energy Storage system. Battery energy storage systems are rechargeable battery systems that store energy from solar arrays or the electric grid and provide that energy to a home or business. Because they contain advanced technology that regular batteries do not, they can easily perform certain tasks that used to be difficult or impossible, such as peak shaving and load shifting.

The idea of combining solar arrays and batteries is not new. Early solar pioneers often connected a series of marine deep cycle batteries to their solar arrays. Before net metering was widespread this was the only way to use stored solar energy at night. Modern battery energy storage systems are similar in concept, but much more sophisticated and powerful. If those old battery arrays were like flip phones, then modern battery energy storage systems are like the latest smartphone – they have the same primary function, but everything else is a world apart.

Modern battery energy storage systems usually include a built-in inverter and computerized control systems. This means they’re all-in-one, turnkey systems that are simple to install, largely maintenance-free, and don’t require any effort or expertise from the owner. They’re also weatherproof and safe for people and pets.

Types of solar energy storage systems

Batteries used in home energy storage typically are made with one of three chemical compositions: lead acid, lithium ion, and saltwater. In most cases, lithium ion batteries are the best option for a solar panel system, though other battery types can be more affordable.

  • Lithium ion

lithium-ion battery energy storage systems is The majority of new home energy storage technologies, such as the , use some form of lithium ion chemical composition(lithium iron phosphate). Lithium ion batteries are lighter and more compact than lead acid batteries. They also have a higher DoD and longer lifespan when compared to lead acid batteries.  Especially for the LFP type lithium batteries. However, lithium ion batteries are more expensive than their lead acid counterparts.

  • Lead acid

Lead acid batteries are a tested technology that has been used in off-grid energy systems for decades. While they have a relatively short life and lower DoD than other battery types, they are also one of the least expensive options currently on the market in the home energy storage sector. For homeowners who want to go off the grid and need to install lots of energy storage, lead acid can be a good option.

  • Saltwater

A newcomer in the home energy storage industry is the saltwater battery. Unlike other home energy storage options, saltwater batteries don’t contain heavy metals, relying instead on saltwater electrolytes. While batteries that use heavy metals, including lead acid and lithium ion batteries, need to be disposed of with special processes, a saltwater battery can be easily recycled. However, as a new technology, saltwater batteries are relatively untested, and the one company that makes solar batteries for home use (Aquion) filed for bankruptcy in 2017.

Residential solar plus storage energy systems

Normally a residential solar system storage combines solar panels and battery storage in one connected system for optimal energy management. Battery storage system is significant required. Imagine you’re home on a stormy night, watching TV with the washing machine running, and all of a sudden the power goes out. Now imagine the same scenario, except you have a rooftop solar energy system with battery storage. When the power goes out in your neighborhood, you’d be blissfully unaware.

  • Around-the-clock power. If you use the utility billing mechanism known as time-of-use, and don’t have a solar energy system, your electricity in the evening is likely more expensive because of the higher demand on the system. With battery storage, however, you can use electricity generated during the day later on, rather than relying on the utility for power. This is also useful if you live in an area with frequent power outages.
  • Pocketbook protection. If your utility raises electricity rates, you can avoid that with a battery. Battery storage lets you leverage low-cost energy that has already been generated and stored, ensuring your rates stay low and don’t affect your monthly budget. In some cases, you can even sell the energy you’re storing back to the grid when the rates are higher and bank the profit.
  • Better monitoring. A solar-plus-storage system can help you to better track the energy your system is generating through monitoring capabilities, providing an enhanced level of transparency and precision. These systems allow you to track the energy your home is producing and using in real time.
  • More energy self-sufficiency. While most jurisdictions require homes to be connected to their local utility even if they don’t use any electricity from the utility, a solar-plus-storage system takes you closer to “off the grid” status. Battery storage means you don’t have to rely on your utility to deliver electricity to your home most days of the year. And you can always keep some battery capacity in reserve, so that if the power goes out in your neighborhood, your house will be the one with the lights on.

Solar-Plus-Storage systems use a large-capacity solar battery for both storage and backup power. The battery can be added to an existing solar system or installed at the same time (by a registered electrician). When researching solar energy storage methods, remember to factor in materials, hardware, and installation costs as well as the batteries themselves. Battery energy storage system Design

The battery system consists of the battery pack, which connects multiple cells to appropriate voltage and capacity; the battery management system (BMS); and the battery thermal management system (B-TMS). The BMS protects the cells from harmful operation, in terms of voltage, temperature, and current, to achieve reliable and safe operation, and balances varying cell states-of-charge (SOCs) within a serial connection. The B-TMS controls the temperature of the cells according to their specifications in terms of absolute values and temperature gradients within the pack. • The components required for the reliable operation of the overall system are system control and monitoring, the energy management system (EMS), and system thermal management. System control and monitoring is general (IT) monitoring, which is partly combined into the overall supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system but may also include fire
